The Philadelphia Museum of Art
Philadelphia, PA
Size of the Collection: 1500 Objects
The Philadelphia Museum of Art collection of glass covers periods from the 2nd to 20th Century and the majority of this is from the bequest of George H. Lorimer. The strength here is with the American glass numbering 875 pieces and 18th Century historic British vessels. In addition to these you will find a good representation of Chinese snuff bottles, Venetian and German 17th & 18th Century glass and about 40 pieces of French Art Glass. The Museum has an excellent representation of their glass collection in photographs available for viewing on their web site.
